The PU Law Entrance Exam is conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh for admission to its Undergraduate (BA LLB) and Postgraduate (LLM) law programs. The exam is designed to select candidates based on their merit for admission into the university’s law faculty.

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate (BA LLB) Program:

  1. Age Limit:
    • There is no age limit for the BA LLB program.
  1. Educational Qualifications:
    • Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks (for General/OBC candidates) or 45% marks (for SC/ST candidates).
    • Candidates appearing for the 12th standard examination in the same year are also eligible to apply.
Postgraduate (LLM) Program:
  1. Age Limit:
    • There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the LLM program.
  1. Educational Qualifications:
    • Candidates must have a three-year LLB degree or a five-year integrated LLB degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (for General/OBC candidates) or 45% marks (for SC/ST candidates).
 

Exam Pattern:

For Undergraduate (BA LLB) Program:

  1. Total Marks: 100 marks
  2. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  3. Sections:
    • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 25 questions
    • Legal Aptitude: 25 questions
    • Reasoning Ability: 25 questions
    • English Comprehension: 25 questions
  1. Marking Scheme:
    • +1 mark for each correct answer
    • 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer (negative marking)
For Postgraduate (LLM) Program:
  1. Total Marks: 100 marks
  2. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  3. Sections:
    • Constitutional Law: 40 marks
    • Jurisprudence: 30 marks
    • Other Law Subjects (such as contracts, torts, criminal law): 30 marks
  1. Marking Scheme:
    • +1 mark for each correct answer
    • -0.25 marks for each incorrect answer (negative marking)

Selection Process:

  1. Written Exam: The PU Law Entrance Exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates must secure a minimum cut-off to qualify.
  2. Merit List: Based on the exam results, a merit list is prepared. Admission will be granted based on merit and availability of seats.
  3. Counseling: Candidates who make it to the merit list will be called for counseling for seat allocation.
